Built for
every donor and grantee.

A website that excludes people is not a finished website. We build and maintain every site we touch to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, ship a user-facing accessibility widget on every page, and publish a real contact for issue reports.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the floor, not the ceiling.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard most U.S. courts and federal agencies reference when evaluating digital accessibility under the ADA and Section 508. The May 2026 HHS Section 504 deadline puts every nonprofit that receives federal funding on the hook to meet it.

GPA treats that standard as the starting point. Our Digital Stewardship program rebuilds nonprofit and small business websites to meet it from the markup up, ships the user-facing accessibility widget you are using on this page, and stays on call for remediation. One stack, three layers, no widget-as-shield shortcuts.

Real accessibility is not a widget. It is the underlying site.

01

Accessible by build

Semantic HTML, proper heading hierarchy, alt text on every meaningful image, full keyboard navigation, visible focus states, color contrast that passes WCAG AA, and ARIA attributes where they help. This is the work that holds up under legal scrutiny.

02

A user-facing widget

A button at the bottom right of every page opens a panel where visitors can adjust text size, contrast, spacing, link visibility, and motion. Preferences save in the browser. The widget empowers users to tune the experience without waiting on a redesign.

03

A published remediation path

A real contact, a documented response window, and a commitment to fix what is reported. That commitment is the difference between a site that claims compliance and a site that is defensible.

Visitors adjust the page on their own terms.

Click the accessibility button at the bottom right of any page. Inside the panel:

Text size

Scale type from 85% to 160%.

Contrast modes

High contrast, dark, sepia, and monochrome.

Letter and line spacing

Loosen text for easier scanning.

Link highlighting

Make every link stand out with underline and background.

Large cursor

Easier to track for low-vision and motor-impaired visitors.

Pause animations

Stop motion that can trigger vestibular issues.

Greyscale and invert

Quick visual recalibration without changing the whole theme.

The widget itself is keyboard-navigable. Tab to the button, press Enter, navigate inside with Tab and arrow keys, close with Escape.

The widget is a layer on top. The site underneath has to do the real work.

On glaisman.com and on every Digital Stewardship client site, the underlying markup ships with:

  • Semantic HTML5 (header, nav, main, section, article, footer)
  • Proper heading hierarchy with one h1 per page
  • Alt text on every meaningful image, empty alt on decorative ones
  • Full keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators
  • Color contrast ratios that meet WCAG AA (4.5:1 body, 3:1 large text)
  • ARIA labels on icon buttons and interactive elements
  • Forms with associated labels and clear error messaging
  • Responsive design that works at 320px and zooms to 200%

If something is broken, tell us.

Tell us the page, the device or assistive technology you are using, and what happened. We respond within two business days and aim to ship a fix within ten. Real reports beat synthetic audits every time.

There is no such thing as an “ADA-certified” website.

Some vendors sell accessibility overlay widgets and imply that installation alone creates ADA compliance. In April 2025 the FTC entered a one million dollar settlement against one of the largest such vendors for that exact claim. Courts have consistently held that an overlay on a non-accessible site does not confer compliance. The defensible posture is the underlying work plus a layer like this one plus a real remediation channel.

This page is a statement of commitment and a working contact, not a guarantee against every claim. If you are a funder wondering whether the nonprofits in your portfolio are exposed, or a nonprofit wondering about your own site, the Digital Stewardship program is the engagement that resolves it.
